Network Coverage
Many cancer patients and survivors want to keep their current doctors.
In-network means a doctor, hospital, or pharmacy works with your health insurance plan. As a health insurance plan member, you will get care at a lower price.
Out-of-network means a doctor, hospital, or pharmacy does not work with your plan. They can charge you more for care.
Your in-network heath care costs count towards your deductible, copays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximum.
Many plans do not pay for any out-of-network care, except for emergency care.
Other plans will let you get out-of-network care, but they won’t pay as much for it — so you will end up paying more.

Special tip
Each year, you should check to make sure your doctors are part of your plan’s network by calling them or calling your health insurance plan.
Your plan network may also change during the year. If this happens, you can call your doctor to make a plan to continue your treatment with a new in-network doctor.
